Academic Warnings and Dismissal for Weak Students

  1. If a student of Bachelor of Sharia or Bachelor of Law gets a cumulative average of less than (2) two points (70%), after two semesters from the beginning of study, which is equivalent to (34) credit hours, s\he will be given an academic warning approved by the head of the academic department, and his\her study load will be reduced to the minimum, which is 14 credit hours.

  2. If a Law or Sharia student is unable to remove the first academic warning during the next semester by raising the GPA to (2) two points (70%), s\he shall be given a second academic warning approved by the head of the academic department. The department council may reduce his\her study load to the minimum; (10) Hours.

  3. If a Law student is unable to remove the second academic warning in the next semester, s\he will be transferred to Sharia program provided that his\her average in Sharia and mutual courses is not less than (2) two points (70%). If his\her average in these courses is less than that, s\he will be given an opportunity for two semesters to raise the GPA to (2) points. If s\he fails to do that, s\he will be dismissed from the college.

  4. If a Sharia student is unable to remove the second academic warning in the next semester, s\he will be given an opportunity for two semesters to raise the GPA to (2) points. If s\he fails to do that, s\he will be dismissed from the college.

  5. The college director may give students who received a second academic warning a chance for another semester to remove the academic warning.

  6. The Student Affairs Department informs the student, his\her guardian, and the concerned authorities in the college of the academic warning, the compulsory transfer, or the dismissal from the college. In all cases, the department keeps copies of these decisions in the student’s file.

Re-enrollment in Courses:

  1. The student must re-enroll in a compulsory course, when s\he gets (E); less than (60%) or (zero) point. If the course s\he fails is elective, s\he may either re-enroll in the same course or choose an alternative course according to the study plan.

  2. For the purpose of raising the GPA, a student may re-enroll only once in a course which s\he passed, provided that the first grade does not exceed (2.5) points. When re-enrolled, the highest grade will be approved. This is allowed for a maximum of five subjects in the academic program.

  3. In all cases, the Student Affairs Department registers all grades with their dates in the student’s academic record, and add special marks beside failure and repetition grades, that are omitted when calculating the student's semester and cumulative averages.

Remedial Programs:

The college offers remedial programs that support the undergraduate programs. Students who do not succeed to remove the academic warnings, will be transferred to this program. The remedial program basically aims to enable students to resume their study in the undergraduate programs according to the required standards, through identifying their weaknesses and overcome them in order to remove the academic warning during one or two semesters. A number of distinctive assistants teach the courses of these programs.
